girl2 {shinsei kamattechan}

this was my splitter girl before the release of splitter girl. angry, rageful, sad. relatable. i love this song so much, its so chaotic. it also just sounds soooo good ! seriously, this song defined my 7th grade year. i found it like a week or something before my birthday, and it was literally all i listened to that week. i felt so connected to this song, and the singer's tone, and the lyricism (NOT in a literal fashion) spoke to me. anyways this song is still super good, but i dont listen to it as much because it reminds me sooo much of seventh grade LOL

portishead

i really thought i'd made a post about portishead, but i guess i haven't yet! i sincerely adore almost all songs ever put out by them. beth gibbons' enchanting voice combined with the hauntingly beautiful instrumental synth melodies and the gorgeous feminine lyrics. ugh i love it all SO much. all of their music makes me feel beautiful just from listening. genuinely heavenly. they make some of the objectively best music i've ever heard. and their live covers? UGH its TOO DIVINE. literally celestial. i cant explain just how angelic portishead's music is with my own words. what i wouldnt give to go to a portishead concert....ily portishead...

favorites: glory box (especially the live version... omg), the rip, biscuit, all mine, cowboys, deep water, pedestal

snow strippers

snow strippers reminds me a lot of crystal castles, but a little different. i cant put my finger one exactly what is different about their music, but the emotions are different, somehow. i love their use of synth instruments, and the vocals and samples are always so perfectly placed. some of their music makes me the saddest ive ever felt. their use of emotion is really excellnt.

favorites: passionate highs, genocide, don't you feel, just your doll, under your spell, aching like it's

tu tu neurotic {the hellp}

i first listened to this song in the end of may 2024. i had just started cutting, and i felt absolutely awful. i hated the song at first. i completely abhorred it. but something kept drawing me back, and i liked it more the more i listened to it. now, its one of my favorite songs honestly. i still listen to it when i feel shitty, and i still love the song. it will never make me feel good, but it definitely comforts me. i feel so seen, even though the song is not really about self harm. something about the sound, and the voice, and the lyrics, and the structure. i love this song.

Глюк'oza

i honestly dont remember how i found glukoza. i dont even like that many of her songs, but the ones i do i LOVE to death !! all of it sounds like music my grandmother would listen to when she took me to the park, and it sounds sooo nostalgic. i like mostly her older stuff (because of the nostalgia LOL), but im trying to get into her newer stuff just bc i think i would like it if i tried :) i also think its SUPER cool when i listen to some of her songs and can understand them without translations online, just from my own russian vocabulary ive picked up through the years !

favorites: пипец, невеста, швайне, снег идёт

i'm in your walls {death insurance}

i first started listening to death insurance innnnn like late august 2023 from a spotify recommendation i wanna say ??? i immediately fell in love with her musical style, and i ate up ALLL her songs. especially this album !! unfortunately, i mostly listen to her music when im pretty mentally Unwell, just bc thats the kinda vibe/feeling they give off. but theyre excellent sound wise none the less !! i loev her use of vocal distortions, samples, dnb, and just Noise in general ! super cool artist, and i loev her youtube channel too. shes funny :)

favorites: brainbleed, ifeelgr8, sludged, (byebye), go offline

difficult {uffie}

first heard this song on a spachey website in june of 2023. it was one of the first sites i saw with autoplay music, and me and my friend scrambled to shazam it bc we NEEDED to know the song ! its crazy to look back on, because it was my first week on neocities; i was still learning how to code, and the song itself reminded me of the old internet and everything i saw on all the different sites i scrolled thru. i love this song, and it will always remind me of neocities, and just how much i love this site :)

goreshit

my introduction to breakcore, and all the other similar genres !! probably my 7th grade anthem. i love his stuff, its sooo good ! i dont listen as much anymore, but it makes such good bg music and its just SO GOOD ! his discography also feels soo varied; there's some incredibly calm sounding songs (toromi hearts 2) and some that make you completely space out bc theyre so loud (serial experiments lain alternative op), but they're ALL SO GOOD !! so happy i found his stuff. crazy to think that if i never got into goreshit, i would have likely never found one of my fave music genres.

favorites: fake ass bitches, toromi hearts 2, bad habits, her eyes roll way back, too young to love, austria, czech, scrambled eggz0rhax, serial experiments lain alternative op, ima ai ni yukimasu (sorry there's so many! his discography is soo big lol)

the rip {portishead}

this is genuinely, objectively, the best song thats ever been made. the first half of the song being mainly acoustic, then the switch to synth instrumental and more heavy background music, and the staticness of gibbons's voice. its such a good song. the vagueness of the lyrics, the gutwrenching melancholy that it brings out in me. probably the best song that's ever been made. my introduction to portishead, too!

yameii online

been a fan of yameii online for almost 3 years now !! i loveeee this project so much ! the use of avanna in a more pop music style is SO cute ! and it just all sounds so bubbly. all the instruments and effects are sooo perfect. im really such a fan of a LOT of the yameii online albums. even the little "my name is... um yameii!" is just SO fitting and i love how its used as a producer tag!!

favorites: neon dreams pur, heartless, yummy dummy

old world underground, where are you now? {metric}

i first paid attention to this album while driving through oregonian woods. i had listened to hustle rose a lot before, but none of the other songs on this album stood out to me before that drive. now, quite a few of them are so amazing to me, i cant help but listen to them incredibky frequently. i love the bouncy synth instrument metric uses a BUNCH in this album (idk the name), and that combined with the strong bass and emily haines' voice makes for such easy listening

favorites: succexy, combat baby, calculation theme, hustle rose

kitty

a lot of kitty's music resonates really strongly with me. im not quite sure why, other than a few of the songs being pretty bpd-coded. but anyways, her style of music is so enchanting to me ! its very electronic, while also sounding very acoustic in some way. its very pop! i love her lyrics a lot, and her voice is amazing as well. her ep frostbite was released on my 6th birthday :)

favorites: last minute, counting all the starfish, miss u, 285

crystal castles

crystal castles makes such good music ! its so unfortunate ethan kath is a creep. anyways, their music is so good ! hauntingly beautiful, in all the best ways, a seamless joining of electronic music with shoegaze type beats. so good !!

favorites: black panther, empathy, violent youth, vanished, celestica

dog / screaming / livestock {abuse-ken}

first listened (and fell in love with) this album about 3 years ago, and it still holds a special place in my heart. although ive grown out of a lot of vocaloid albums and producers, this is one album i keep coming back to and relistening every few months. this album holds so many memories of mine, and the lyrics are so meaningful and poetic, its such an incredibly album. although the only vocaloid used is miku, abuse-ken's tuning of her changes in most songs, almost compltely changing the tone of each song with her vocals. i love this album, it evokes such strong emotions out of me.

favorites: dogdog, Let's clean up, Christ, Moths and Mayflies

grimes

ive liked a couple of grimes' songs for a really long time, but ive only recently really delved into her discography. i love the ethereal melodies she uses in a lot of her music, and the synthetic electronics she manages to flawlessly mesh with the natural, spiritual sound. its a really cool listening experience, especially including her haunting lyrics and melodies.

favorites: visiting statue, genesis, venus fly, rosa, realiti (demo)

splitter girl {weevildoing}

ever since this song released, ive been a huge fan of it. ive always connected pretty heavily to the lyrics and overall tone of the song, and its since become my favorite song ever. although im lucky to have gotten better, and thus relate less to the song as a whole, its still one of my all-time favorites just because of how good the song is. i love the metallic, grungey type beat and melody, and the lyrics and tuning of the vocaloid are so incredible. ty weevildoing for such a banger.
